Database Administrator/ Developer (ES Expert)

Job Summary:

Responsible for maintaining the integrity and performance of databases and guaranteeing that data is stored securely and optimally. Informs end users of changes in databases and trains them to utilize systems.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Build database systems of high availability and quality depending on each end user’s specialised role
  • Design and implement database in accordance to end users information needs and views
  • Define users and enable data distribution to the right user, in the appropriate format and in a timely manner
  • Use high-speed transaction recovery techniques and backup data
  • Minimize database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query responses
  • Provide proactive and reactive data management support and training to users
  • Determine, enforce and document database policies, procedures and standards
  • Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy and integrity
  • Monitor database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computers or Information Technology or related field
  • At least 8-12 years of proven working experience as a Database Administrator/Database Developer
  • Experience with Elastic Search installation is must, cluster configuration, parameters setting, snapshot backup & restoration, query writing and tuning on Unix platform
  • Hands-on experience with database standards and end user applications
  • Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security and integrity
  • Familiarity with database design, documentation and coding
  • Experience with databases like MySQL/SQL/Oracle 11g on Linux based installation and configuration
  • Experience with Kibana configuration
  • Experience with Unix Scripting, Kernel tuning, PL/SQL and SQL writing
  • Familiarity with programming languages API
  • Ability to apply logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions
  • Numerical aptitude and strong analytical skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to innovate and think out-of-the-box
  • Ability to take initiative and handle concurrent tasks with appropriate priority
  • Ability to meet objectives and adhere to deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Flexible and willing to accept a change in priorities as necessary
