At the heart of our latest NDR release (v1.8.1) this quarter is the SLMC (Setup & Licensing Management Console), our integrated, GUI driven engine for quick deployment.

In this article, we will provide a behind the scenes look at SLMC that propels your Vehere probe from ‘Power-on’ to ‘First packet capture’ in under 5 minutes.

With node-wide automation, SLMC condenses the entire deployment into 3 intuitive steps of Boot, Configure and License. It then starts every critical service*in a single sequence, bringing the probe online and inspecting live traffic within minutes.

Henceforth, every Vehere field deployment will be in two streamlined phases:

  • Rapid ISO imaging: Our engineers will image the server with Vehere’s ISO, a process spanning few minutes
  • Single session configuration with SLMC: With the base OS in place, the engineers will transition to the browser-based console, which compresses the entire post-installation workflow into a single, secure browser session

How do our engineers use SLMC ?

  • Create the system record: In the Systems console, they supply a unique ID and a descriptive name, creating the container that stores licenses and server details
  • Add and validate the Server: Entering the probe’s IP auto-populates network, licence, and service parameters. Engineers review the starred items and save
  • Run the three command sequence (Set Basic Info, Setup and Register): When all 3 commands return ‘Completed’, resources are allocated, services activated, and the probe is live

Once setup is complete, the front-end and back-end URLs are opened in the browser to verify that the deployment and services are running correctly.

Watch this demo video for an overview of how SLMC works:

For scenarios where you prefer to use a USB device, it is still possible

Immediate impact:

  • Node-wide automation eliminates manual switch checks on every node
  • Deployment time is slashed by 50%

What this means for customers?

  1. Accelerated time-to-value with the probe being fully-operational within minutes
  2. First detections up to 2x faster than the industry’s average

Roadmap Peek:

  • Cluster-aware SLMC- Q4 2025: Manage multi-node deployments with the same three-step wizard, from first boot to full fleet orchestration
  • In-console Lifecycle Management: Version upgrades and security patches will execute directly through SLMC
